Winter Affordability Program - Ontario

The new Ontario winter affordability program, is designed to help eligible low-income households in Ontario save on their electricity bills during the winter months. The program provides an assessment by a licensed contractor (for free), which can help customers save due to cold weather conditions.

In addition to the free assessment, the program also offers funding for energy-efficient upgrades such as insulation, weather-stripping, and caulking. Qualified homeowners can receive up to $5,000 in funding for these upgrades, which can help to reduce energy consumption and lower heating costs.

Another benefit of the program is the opportunity to exchange old, inefficient appliances for new, energy-efficient ones. Eligible households can receive a free fridge or freezer. This can help to reduce electricity consumption and lower energy bills over time.

To qualify for the Winter Fixed Price Program, households must meet certain income requirements and be customers of one of the participating electricity distributors in Ontario. Customers can apply for the program online or by contacting their electricity distributor directly.
